I am committed to providing a meaningful connection and supportive environment in which to explore and strengthen both physical and emotional wellbeing. I work with individuals as well as couples on: Dealing with emotional dysfunction - eg, depression and anxiety Dealing with emotional crisis - eg, bereavement, loss and grief Managing life transitions and maximising personal growth Finding effective ways to get the most out of relationships I leave it up to each individual to determine the agendas as well as the duration and frequency of their therapy. In most cases people have chosen an initial course of either weekly or fortnightly sessions for a period of several months followed by occasional contact. My experience outside of private practice includes: Work in a problem-gambling service Work in a community health care setting Applications of team therapy and single-session models My therapeutic approach is largely informed by: Mindfulness Theory Family Systems Theory Dialectical Behaviour Theory Acceptance and Commitment Theory
Harry Constantinou - Melbourne Adolescent PsychologistPosition Profile
Adolescent and adult counselling; existential and identity issues, sexuality and relationship issues, anxiety, depression, loss and trauma. My work is psychoanalytically oriented which lends itself to more ongoing longer term work, but not limited to this. I will work with someone around presenting issues with the possibility of deeper longer term work if they are interested in knowing more about themselves, beyond the presenting issues. My approach may be characterised according to the following principles: - Respecting the individuality of each client and that they will have unique and particular needs. - An individual’s difficulties can not be reduced to a generic diagnosis to be treated in a generic way. - Each client requires a treatment or intervention that is particular to their situation - Clients will be afforded the opportunity to give voice to their difficulty and be listened to deeply. - From therein, if deemed appropriate and suitable a treatment will be offered. The efficacy of such treatment will be reviewed as required.
